Today I want to share with you my most recent photo shoot – portraits of a beautiful brazilian girl Dayse.
And as usual some thoughts of mine. I noticed recently that I am addicted to change, addicted in a good way I must say. I hate to be in a comfort zone, it feels boring for me. I love to challenge myself, and I love to change. It’s my recipe for happiness.
I don’t know if it works for everybody like this, I guess not. But I truly believe that it is better to love changes than to seek stability. Because stability is a myth, it doesn’t exist, it’s an illusion. Life is a constant change, everyday is different from the day before. And I think the best way to live easily and happily is to accept this change and enjoy it the most.
I see a lot of people resisting the change, trying to hold on the “stability” illusion. For example, a job they don’t like but which gives them comfort and stable income every month, or relationships that don’t work anymore, and the list goes on.
If you are in this kind of situation, feeling stuck and holding on something that doesn’t make you happy anymore, my advice for you: just stop, let it go, and make a change. There is no need in fear.
You either live out of fear or out of LOVE. And it’s always your choice.
Choose love, accept changes, and be happy.
What makes you happy?
This time my model was a good friend of mine, Luana, whom I was lucky to meet while living in the northeast of Brazil. Her name is Luana. What makes her happy? That’s easy! Ocean, beach…and maybe some fruits. Born to be a mermaid, living the beach life in a tropical paradise every damn day.
Hope these photos will make you smile, cuz this world definitely need more smiling people.
Went to the beach with one mermaid these days. It was early morning, nobody around, just the empty beach and some fishermen boats passing by from time to time. We shoot some photos under the light morning sun.
Meet ma girl Dayse, the mermaid.
When you say “Brazilian girl”, any gringo like me will instantly imagine a beautiful dark-skinned girl with curly hair. However living here it’s not difficult to notice that most of the tv or other media propaganda has mainly white blond girls and boys, and only sometimes, really rare, black people. Why? There are lots of reasons for this, but I am not an anthropologist to explain each of them. If you are interested in subject here is the good post about it. I am just an observer… And I can tell you for sure Brazil still has a lot to learn and a lot to change in the case of race justice.
One month ago I heard about one more very sad news, I don’t have tv and don’t watch news but this one was impossible not to know, it was really shocking and everybody around was talking about this. Five young black boys from the poor neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro were shot to death by the police. The boys were just teenagers, celebrating the first job of one of them, but they were dark-skinned kids…. And this was enough for policemen to use 50 bullets. It’s not the only case like this in Brazil, on a daily basis police treat black people as they were criminals, just because of the color of their skin or the neighborhood they live. And its not only in Brazil, I saw the same in USA. And the worst and most important – it’s not only police who have prejudice, the police as well as the politics, in my opinion, are just the mirror of the society. And society needs to change.
My dear Brazilians, i love your country, love your “take it easy” way of life and love the way you treated me all these years, but some things here I really wish can change.
As i was shocked by this news I started to think what can I do to make a little change? I am a true believer that we are the change we need in this world. So I had an idea to photograph four young beautiful souls of Maceio, their essence and their afro roots beauty. I want to inspire more girls to truly appreciate their beauty and feel proud of who they are.
We are all different and we are all beautiful. Love yourself and you’ll love others.
Cuz today I woke up with a little bit of “saudade” of Rio de Janeiro and its fresh mornings. Here in Maceio it’s always warm, in the morning, at night, all the time nice warm weather, and as all things in the world – sometimes you just get bored. So today is this kind of day, I miss freshness of the morning, I miss Rio and my friends there.
These photos were taken last year, at Copacabana beach, early morning, with my best friend Janna. She has a blog herself too, you should check it out: –Maracujanna It has the yummiest vegetarian and vegan recipes.
Now feel the misty morning and fresh air of Rio de Janeiro winter time…
Do you know what will save this world? Happy people!
I believe most of the problems are because people are not happy, people are not living the life they want and not doing what they love.
And yeah you may call me hippie or crazy, but that’s what I believe.
Happy people want to help others and not hurt…
And true happiness is not in material stuff, it’s not the salary you earn, not the new clothes you buy, I hope we all know it already. True happiness is when what you do is in harmony with what you think. When you know your true self and enjoy being it.
Of course I know that there are some part of this world where it’s not that easy to just enjoy being yourself, where you need to survive every day to get food, water or just peace. But have you noticed that sometimes the happiest people are the ones who have less? Who traveled to India, South America or similar countries who are daily struggling with poverty, probably saw it already. I saw.
So let’s do our best today to be a bit happier. Go have some coffee or beers with your friends, meditate, plan your next travel, talk to your mom or just enjoy some cozy “me time” with good movie and cup of tea.
I wish you all to dream big and be happy NOW.
And remember – “happiness is only real when shared”.
